Discover the Story: Bluebell Cottage Unveiled
Welcome to Bluebell Cottage, a charming haven inspired by cherished memories and a love-filled upbringing. Learn about the roots of our tiny home and the vibrant history that shaped its character.

Our Story
Welcome to My Bluebell Cottage, a cozy retreat steeped in the nostalgia of my childhood and a tribute to the love my parents infused into our small A-Frame house in Curran, Ontario. The vibrant blue exterior of our home made it a distinctive feature in our quaint town, marking the beginning of cherished memories.
Nestled in the snug confines of our family of five, our home was surrounded by a vast 20-acre land owned by our nature-loving neighbors. Together, we cultivated a love for nature, exploring walking trails, tapping maples for sweet springwater, and reveling in the wonders of the outdoors.
As a child, I found solace playing by the stream, exploring the enchanting forest, and lying in the grassy fields, gazing at the sky until dinnertime. My mother's green thumb adorned our lives with vibrant flower beds and a flourishing vegetable garden, a legacy I eagerly continue by planning beautiful gardens at My Bluebell Cottage this summer.
My father's deep admiration for birds shaped our family adventures, from birding in the forest to encountering over 200 species. Although my parents' dream of converting our A-frame house into a bed and breakfast named "La Maison Bleu" remained unfulfilled, fate led me to the Small Living Company, where I honored their vision by creating My Bluebell Cottage.
In homage to my parents and the bluebells in my mother's garden, My Bluebell Cottage stands adorned in blue siding. This spring, a Mom and Dad garden will be crafted, a sacred space honoring their memory. My Bluebell Cottage is not just a tiny home; it's a charming haven that celebrates the beauty of family, nature, and the little wonders that make life truly special.

Construction of Bluebell Cottage
The construction of the Bluebell Cottage started with the building of a frame on a custom trailer. This provided the foundation for the tiny home.
After the frame was completed, the siding color was chosen, and the decision was made to go with a blue color. This added aesthetic appeal to the exterior of the cottage.
Once the framing was finished, the rough in was installed, which includes electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. Spray foam insulation was then applied to ensure energy efficiency.
Windows and doors were installed next, allowing for natural light and ventilation.
The next step was the installation of drywall, which provided a smooth and finished look to the interior walls.
Various flooring options were available to choose from, and the cottage owners selected their preferred flooring material. This choice was accompanied by the installation of cabinets and countertops to provide storage space and working surfaces in the kitchen area.
To save space, a metal shower insert and a tiny sink/vanity were installed in the bathroom. This allowed for a functional and compact bathing area.
For sleeping arrangements, a loft and a murphy bed were included in the construction. This maximizes the available space while providing comfortable sleeping options.
The HVAC system was then installed to ensure heating and cooling capabilities, making the cottage comfortable in any weather conditions.
After all the major construction work was completed, the interior was painted, adding a personal touch and creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere.
Finally, all the necessary accessories were installed, including furniture, appliances, and other essentials needed for a weekend getaway.
Outside, a beautiful deck and a barbecue area were constructed to enhance the outdoor living experience. These additional features were included in the overall price of the Bluebell Cottage.
Overall, the construction process of the Bluebell Cottage involved careful planning, attention to detail, and customization to create a cozy and functional tiny home.
